Dora Becoming a Tween
Having watched every Dora episode ever made I come to the news of Dora becoming a tween bittersweet. It is sweet because I am happy to finally have some new episodes to watch with my daughter — bitter because I wish television land would leave something alone so that kids can perform the natural progression of life.
In looking at my house I cannot imagine that there would be any other trinkets of Dora left to buy ……..which I suppose is the purpose for the change — a whole new set of items geared toward the “tweens” to buy………parents get out your charge cards!

I just don’t know if older girls will go for this. When you think of Dora you think of a little girl. At some point older girls just don’t want to watch cartoons. Dora is a huge hit in my house and we’re years away from needing a “tween Dora,” but I wonder if my daughters will even be interested by then.
Really… yeah I don’t think I can see this hitting the tween crowds quite the way that shows like Hannah Montana do. Then again my sister’s five and while she still loves Dora, she’s pretty in to Hannah Montana too.

I think the “tween” Dora is adorable. They’ve said they won’t stop with the original Dora and I can see children getting into this. It’s a smart idea.
